Small Accidents
Through this portrait, the artist chooses to explore the theme of the religious icon: a figurative work, small in scale, and an object of worship. A contemporary icon, reflecting our connected society. A reference to the iPhone, a mobile device we carry everywhere with us, but also a vehicle for a new form of worship: social media. A parallel is thus drawn between the celebrity—who becomes a source of influence, inspiration, and comparison, and whom we follow at every stage of their daily life, down to the most insignificant gestures—and the episodes in the life of a saint for the faithful.
