* PROCESSION OF THE MOGUL EMPEROR SHAH JAHAN (R. 1628-58), HIS SON DARA SHIKOH AND GRANDSON SULAYMAN SHIKOH Probably Delhi, Mughal school, North India, 19th century Ink and gold on paper, delicately painted, the emperor haloed and carried on a palanquin by eight men, two angels carry a canopy from which falls a golden rain, each of the two princes mounted on horseback, their entourage on foot, some carrying a ceremonial mace, hourglass, wineskin, or gong, the reverse inscribed in Italian "darachah figlio [primo] de chah Jeann," "chah Jeann," and "solimanchacouv figlio de daracha."
